Out of Touch!!

We did it. After riding in a bus for the morning, we are officially out in the middle of nowhere. We went to a church that had been destroyed by a volcano. It was quite a hike through old lava fields. Some rode horses, but we opted to walk it in the rain. There was a village of indigenous people ther also. We had home made blue corn tortillas with cheese and avacado. It was very delicious- hopefully we will not pay the price later! We will head back to Guadalajara tomorrow. We love you all. Love, Mom and Dad

Bedroom Set

Well, without the family I have not had too much new things happening. Although, today my bedroom set was delivered. In this picture we got the bed frame, two night stands, and the dressor with the mirror. We got a matress but I am waiting for Kristi to pick out sheets and stuff. I will just sleep on some blankets I brought. Thats about it although Kristi and Cory join me in less then a week so I am pretty excited about that.

Gold Metal for Darcy?

These pictures were taken a couple of months ago in Utah. I couldn't believe they made skates little enough for her. She had mixed feelings about being on the ice. It was all good until she slipped on her bum! Oops!

Finally Pictures

Here it is. You will have to picture it without furniture and decorations because they were the previous tenants. But the building is ours....thats what really matters. That should give you an idea of what the place looks like and there is two bathrooms and three bedrooms and a wash room all of which you cannot see in the pictures. To the left of the kitchen is the main bathroom and a bedroom and the was room. To the left of the person taking the picture is the master bedroom and bathroom. The third bedroom is down the hall to the right in the picture.

Ran out of Room!

The last picture is of the church. We will take a taxi in the morning, but will walk home. Should be fun.

Settling in....

Dad and I came across these little "tea cup" monkeys! They fit in your hand and the babies are only as big as your thumb.

I tried to order dessert at a Starbucks ( we really wanted to use their wireless service!) My spanish was so bad that they called additional workers over to enjoy the entertainment- apparently I was not saying carrot cake properly! They got such a laugh out of it, that they gave me a free coffee. And of course , I had to just graciously accept their offering.

Darcy and Kayla

Kayla is so happy to be off the ground and up where she can see what is going on. Kayla has two bottom teeth popping through and can worm her way around. Not crawling yet, just wiggling in circles. Darcy had her first Dentist visit. No cavities! I overheard her telling the x-ray tech that her Daddy works really hard so that she can have toys. It was really cute! We are laughing out loud at all your blogs and comments. Annie

Finally Tom and Annie are here!

After four attempts to blog, I finally have a moment to check this out. Oh wait, Kayla is crying. Just a minute!
Kayla says hello! She is reaching for the keys so I'll let her type something for you all to read.
GHFVRRTTGY. That's baby talk for I love you! What a sweet baby!

Standing up

Just when I was getting used to my baby crawling, she learned to stand. She pulls herself up on everything now. She even climbs the stairs. She made it up 4 stairs yesterday. Ofcourse we stay very close so that she does not fall. The weird thing is that she has no interest in sitting whatsoever. She wants to climb stairs but refused to sit for long periods of time and often falls over. I guess she just wants to move around.

My address

By popular demand (ie Jessica) here is my official Australian address: 6 Grasstree Place, Forest Lake Queensland, 4078 Australia.

Pictures are harder to post without a camera so I am trying to get the realestate company to forward me some. So soon...hopefully.....

here is a link to google for a map of the area with a handy green arrow over our place.

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=6+grasstree+forest+lake+4078&sll=-25.335447,135.74507&sspn=55.248156,81.738281&ie=UTF8&ll=-27.610577,152.972324&spn=0.003413,0.004989&t=k&z=18&om=1

I Made It!!!!

Yes, with a minimal amount of confusion, I navigated the airports by myself. The customs man did make me go to the end of the line because I had apparently filled out a form incompletely. In my defense, the form was in Spanish. But, I made it through the second time and Dad and I are at a cafe eating and catching up. Hope you are all well. Love, Mom and Dad

A Place To Stay

Well, tonight I we were approved to rent a place near Brisbane. It is a nice little cottage. Pretty excited.....Hopefully pictures are following soon. Talked with a couple stake presidents around the area before making the decision and they both think it is a great family area and I applied and they called us that night so we accepted. It is kinda funny little place because it is just like a house but miniture (kind of the primordial dwarf of houses) and is on this miniature col-de-sac. All I need is a minni car and I am on my way to small ville. HAhA

Father's Day

Thanks everyone. I had an unusual Father's Day in Mexico. I went to church and listened to the talks in Spanish. An Elder translated for me and they gave talks about the importance of parents. I went to the plaza and treated myself to a "brownie temptation" at the Dairy Queen and graded student papers. Mostly, I thought of each of you and how luck I am to be your father. Love, Dad PS. Ran across this wedding in the central square and took this pic

On this fathers day,
for you to love this poem I pray.
As i reflect on my twenty years,
it almost brings me to tears.
You are the best dad a girl could ask for,
and without you my life would be poor.
I love you more than otter pops,
and even more than an alcholic adicted to schnapps. (sorry that was a stretch!)
I just wanted to take a second and let you know
to you i owe, all my rewards in which i sow! hahaha love you dad!

Happy Father's Day

Hi Dad! I just wanted to say happy father's day and with you in another country I do not know how to get a hold of you. I thought the blog would be the best place. :-)
In church today we were talking about memories of our dad's and I had one come to mind. I was 8 years old and we were visiting grandma and grandpa pace for a family reuinion. The family decided to hike Timpanogas and so everyone 12 or older were going on the hike. I really wanted to go so I begged you and you let me go. You stayed with me the entire hike and we made it to the top. I was so excited that you let me go and for some reason on that hike up Timp I was not scared of heights like I was the next time. Ofcourse the next trip up the mountain involved a lot more thunder and lightening so that might have had something to do with it.
Well, I just wanted to say that I love you and that you are a great dad. Happy Father's Day.
Love, Kim

My last Hawaiian Post

Well, I am close to no longer being Hawaiian...Not that I ever was but I lived there for a while. So in honor of moving I am posting our little hawaiian coast line picture. We actually took this one.

I am off in the morning but I will have Kristi's phone because hers works in Australia so all can call me at 1-808-387-3986.

More Pictures

Now that I am on the blog I am going crazy with two posts in 20 minutes! Here are some more pictures. Hope you enjoy. --Dad

Halo from Guadalajara

I finally made it on to Pace Place. I am enjoying Guadalajara very much. I like my students and the city. I am teaching at ITESO university which is a Catholic University here in Mexico. It is a beautiful campus with tall Jacaranda trees which form a natural harbor over the sidewalks. Last weekend we went to Mexico City and saw the magnificent pyramids of Teotihuacan, Aztec ruins, Frida Kahol's house, and many, many famous Mexican Murals. This picture (sorry it is sideways but I can't figure out how to rotate it) is of me at a the Archaeological Museum of Mexico. The sculpture is called the "Tree of Life"--no kidding that is its name! I can't wait for mom to join me next week. I think of all of you often! Love ya. --Dad

Two Days and Counting

Well, two days till departure and it seems to be comming very fast. I have appreciated all of the visits to Hawaii to help us feel like part of the family but we are looking forward to visits in Australia. See my plan has always been to live in popular tourists destinations so that family will come to us......actually not really just kinda worked out that way.

Please post any last advice or such so that I can get it before I leave.

Ellie

Ellie is growing so fast. She is starting to crawl and has 2 teeth. This morning I was getting ready for work and she crawled into the hall bathroom, grabbed the trashcan and climbed inside. I was so mortified that she was in the trash and I didn't know it, that I forgot to take a picture! She also has perfected this cute little face and everytime she makes it I let her have exactly what she wants (which at 7 months old means she wants me to pick her up).

Welcome Friends and Family...

I have come to the conclusion that such a talented and creative family needs a place on the internet to compose our thoughts. In the words of Brigham Young..."this is the place." I doubt he was referencing our blog when he said this, but the prophets words span the generations. It will be on this blog that we laugh, love, cry and ponder. And I leave you with this: "through endurance we conquer."
